My Gift To Me – ‘Forgiveness’!
Imagine living with drought as your constant companion. Picture a flash of lightning as you look up at dark, plump clouds and hear the expected crack of thunder! Your nose tingles at the faint smell of imminent precipitation! You feel a surge of excitement at the thought of the promised rains flowing down and filling up your thirsty water tank! You can almost taste the softness of the H2O caressing your palette, you can feel the refreshing cleanliness entering your body…
BUT WAIT! You forgot that a rat had fallen in the tiny opening weeks before and you meant to drain out the brackish water first!
What is THAT now going to do to your pure rainwater experience?
I liken this outcome to our inability to forgive.
My friends, until we learn to truly ‘forgive’, we are forever tainting our future experiences and indeed ‘anything’ we want to bring into our ‘life tank’. While we hold on to anger, resentment and any other hurt, we are also reducing the space for love, joy, excitement, self-love and abundance; all emotions and outcomes that can lead to a peaceful state of mind and a smoother forward path!
The root of ‘forgive’ is the Latin word ‘perdonare,’ meaning ‘to give completely, without reservation.’ But GIVE to whom? I used to struggle with ‘forgiveness’ as I thought it meant ‘letting the other person off the hook’ lol! But now that I am a little wiser – I view forgiveness as being all about ME! I forgive others so that I can be FREE of their energetic hold over me; free of the thoughts of what they DID to me; FREE of the chains of negativity; FREE of the dead weight around my neck; FREE of the toxic clutter in my heart and FREE to be truly me and attract into my world all that I deserve.
It’s not easy! And this is why I practice regularly! I ‘forgive’ so that my life can be renewed! Yes, ‘forgiveness’ of others and my own part in that scenario is my GIFT to ME!
My all time favourite doTERRA essential oil for my daily reminder to practice forgiveness is simply called, ‘Forgive’ and it is appropriately sub-titled, ‘The Renewing Blend’. I forgive so that I may be renewed!
