Hope-Less E-Motion

Are you feeling ‘hopeless’ right now? Have you been longing for something that hasn’t eventuated and now you feel super low cause your hopes and dreams have seemingly turned to dust?

Is your mind constantly replaying the stories of failures and disappointments to reinforce this feeling of desolation and you feel yourself spiraling down, down into a dark and lonely place?

Please know that professional help is there to support you when these moods become a regular visitor in your life, however, there ARE some simple activities that can ease this painful emotional journey and support you on the road to mood stabilization.

Firstly, let us look at the words Hopeless and Emotion. Hopeless means feelings of ‘less hope’ and emotion is predominantly made up of the word ‘motion’. Our emotions are meant to move through our bodies but when we get ‘the story’ stuck on replay, they block up and cause stagnation.  Extra motion, even gentle walking, creates physical motion and when we are moving, we generally breathe a little better, hopefully we are outdoors in sunshine and fresh air and all these things combined have a coordinated way of moving the needle of our feelings to a healthier place.
 
So, I want to suggest that you ‘Hope Less’ and you MOVE more!   
  • Stop ‘hoping’ and believe MORE! Believe in yourself, in the goodness of life and humanity.  And if you find that hard – ask yourself this: ‘When I think the worst – how do I feel? When I move my thoughts in a more positive direction – how do I feel? When you realize the answers, it will make sense to you to focus on what makes you FEEL better!
  • Move your thoughts away from what you do NOT have and move them towards what you DO have and find reasons to be grateful. 
  • Stop listening to bad news stories and move the channel to ‘feel good stories’ – yes, they ARE out there if you look!
  • Stop ‘hoping’ and start taking small action steps to increase your belief that you deserve better and that you can indeed create a more fulfilling life.
As I have said in a previous article:

Preparation is Key – have a plan in place of ways to raise your spirits when lowered mood states creep into your world. Develop rituals and routines to make it easier to keep going even when your moods subside.
 
  1. Set up your Emotional Sanctuary either IN or outside of your house.
    1. Gather your support tools to activate your senses and take you to your happy place.
      1. What can you see around you? (Photos of loved ones/favourite holiday memories etc)
      2. What music/podcasts can you listen to that inspire you/make you laugh?
      3. What aromas can you smell? (doTERRA Essential oils to the rescue!)
      4. What can you touch? (Favourite fabric, stress ball etc)
      5. What can you taste? (Factor in food prep – more likely to eat well when meals/snacks are prepared in fridge)
  2. Intentionally Breathe to allow energy into your cells and expel toxic air and emotions.
  3. Balance water intake.
  4. Aim to get outside and walk – even for 10 mins a day. Extra Motion (E-Motion) can help to shift the dark fog of despondency – even if it is a walk to the letterbox and back once, then twice, then 3 times a day. 
  5. Let life SHINE on you! Get your daily dose of sun and Vitamin D – it is essential for your wellness.
  6. Get up close and personal with Nature- Simply standing on your lawn with bare feet is a wonderful start.
  7. Diffuse your doTERRA essential oils night and day. Choose ones that make you smile, ones that help you relax and ones that support your restful night’s sleep.
  8. Ask for help. This may be a loved one, a professional or your ‘higher power’. There is always someone who cares.
